Griffin Healing Center

compassionate, trauma-informed mind & body therapy for anxious & chronically ill women throughout Michigan

  • My Philosophy

My promise as your therapist is that I will always give you my 100% and be a guide along your healing journey. I believe in using researched methods that honor your mind, body, and soul. I believe therapy that is person-centered and built on a strong therapeutic relationship is the most beneficial, and believe that women dealing with anxiety, panic, body-based fears and chronic illness deserve compassionate and trauma-informed care.

  • EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy is an evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment which aims to alleviate the distress surrounding painful or traumatic memories, beliefs, and thoughts. EMDR is not just for PTSD - in fact, it can be incredibly helpful for clients with a history of panic attacks, nervous system dysregulation, OCD, emetophobia or other phobias, and more.

  • Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy is a mind-body therapy that recognizes that emotional and psychological concerns can often manifest in the body. Somatic therapy incorporates elements such as body awareness, building a more compassionate relationship with yourself and your nervous system, and learning to feel safe in the body even when experiencing distressing emotions. A body-based approach to moving through stored trauma, uncomfortable sensations and symptoms and anxiety.

  • My Approach

I take a trauma-informed approach to helping women with anxiety, meaning that I rely on establishing safety, autonomy, and respect for your past and present in your therapy. No two people are the same, and so no two treatments look the same. I use trauma-safe therapy modalities, no matter what it is we are working through.

I am not for ‘flooding’ clients with anxiety or triggers which can be retraumatizing, reinforce fear, or put people off from seeking help. The “just tough it out” approach is not what you will find here. We will work with your body and mind, and learn to understand what it is saying, and learn to find safety even in the unsafe feeling moments.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

The ACT approach to therapy is based on the premise that the more we avoid or try to suppress our feelings, the more suffering we end up experiencing. ACT aims to teach mindfulness skills, psychological flexibility, and taking meaningful, values-based action to increase fulfillment and adaptability to life. ACT is a gentle, meaningful, and compassionate method of addressing fears.

  • IFS

Internal Family Systems is a powerfully compassionate trauma-informed therapy aimed at helping you understand yourself more deeply, with less judgment, and to help parts of you that are holding on to fears and traumas to release those and take on new roles so that you can thrive. IFS is wonderful for highly sensitive, creative, and visual people who want a more compassionate and non-pathologizing way to heal from anxiety, burnout, and emotional dysregulation.
